State Representative Rosemary Mulligan Issues Statement Regarding July 1st Implementation of the Todd Stroger Sales Tax Increase

“In an already weak economy, Cook County taxpayers will now see their hard-earned money eaten up by more taxes. With another increase to what is already the highest sales tax rate in the nation, local families are leaving the area just to buy groceries and other necessities. What you have here is taxpayers being forced to bear the burden of Todd Stroger’s bloated bureaucracy. The county government needs to live within its means just like the rest of Illinois’ families,” Rep. Mulligan said.
