Rep.
Mulligan Participates in Hearing for Local Firefighters
August 9, 2002
State Representative
Rosemary Mulligan (R-Des Plaines) attended a hearing of
the bi-partisan House Fire Protection Funding Task Force
on Thursday at the Norwood Park Fire Protection Station.
The purpose of the hearing was to hear from local firefighters
and departments about what they need to adequately serve
and protect local citizens.
“I am very
pleased to be a part of this endeavor, as I always enjoy
meeting with the mayors and firefighters of the area. The
hearing’s purpose was to discuss the methods that
will keep our communities safe and I think we have accomplished
that task,” said Mulligan.
The task force
has been holding hearings throughout the summer to study
a variety of issues including:
• Outdated
Fire Protection
• Firefighter Training
• Homeland Security
• Revolving Load Fund for Departments
• Improvement of Equipment Exchange Programs
• Bulk Purchasing of Fire Protection Equipment
Rep. Mulligan
attended the hearing Thursday along with several colleagues
from the General Assembly, including State Representative
Michael McAuliffe (R-Chicago), the host of the hearing.
Mulligan said that the testimony compiled from hearings
held throughout the state this summer will help legislators
to craft legislation to better protect Illinois’ communities.
