Rep. Mulligan Secures Grant Money for Safer Diving at Des Plaines Park District
August 18, 2008
Des Plaines…State Representative Rosemary Mulligan is pleased to award the Des Plaines Park District with a $20,000 grant. Committed to community improvements, Rep. Mulligan was instrumental in securing state funding for the grant.
“The Des Plaines Park District offers so many wonderful family programs. I’m pleased to be able to offer them financial assistance,” Rep. Mulligan said.
Des Plaines Park District Executive Director John Hecker said the grant will be used to replace two diving boards at the park district’s swimming pools. The current boards are outdated and the stairs that lead up to the diving boards are too steep, he said. The new diving boards will create a safer environment for area children.
“The brand-new boards will give us peace of mind, and they will be up to code. It would have been put off without the funding. We are very appreciative to the Representative for going to bat for us,” Hecker said.
“Ensuring that children enjoy a safe environment at the park district is extremely important. I am happy to be a part of that effort,” Rep. Mulligan said.
